Why might one Etsy PDF need to become several?

Sometimes the better answer isn’t squeezing harder—it’s dividing a large PDF into smaller files. This upload fixer splits the document cleanly while preserving page order, so the same content can be packaged in a form that works better with Etsy’s file limits.

What frustration does this upload fixer solve?

When compression would noticeably reduce reading quality, splitting can keep every original page intact while creating files under Etsy’s per-file limit.

What are the rules right now?

20 MB maximum per file. Up to 5 files per digital listing. PDF is an accepted Etsy digital-file type.

Requirements last verified September 28, 2026.

What does this upload fixer check—and sometimes change?

This upload fixer checks readability, protection, source size, page count, and filename. During repair it measures candidate groups of pages against the 19.5 MB target.

It makes numbered PDF parts in the original order. Your source document is never changed.

What can’t this upload fixer promise?

The parts still have to fit within Etsy’s five-file maximum. A password-protected, damaged, or unusually complex PDF may need to be repaired in its source application first.

Why might the fixed file still get turned away?

A copied single page exceeds this tool’s 19.5 MB target and cannot fit by splitting at page boundaries. The document would require more than Etsy’s five-file allowance, including any other files already attached to the listing. The PDF is password-protected, corrupted, or too complex for the browser to copy safely.

What should you do with the new file?

Check every part in order and count it together with any files already on the listing. Filenames include part numbers; the on-screen labels show page ranges. A short buyer note can explain that the purchase has multiple parts. Check links, forms, and bookmarks separately before publishing.

What is preserved when pages are split?

The splitter copies original page content into new PDF documents without rendering the pages into lower-resolution images. That preserves the page artwork’s resolution, but it is not a guarantee that every document-level feature transfers. Bookmarks, forms, accessibility structure, attachments, and links between pages need separate checking. A planner may still look correct while its navigation behaves differently. Open each output in the kind of PDF reader your buyers use, and test the features that make the product useful.

How are the part boundaries chosen?

The tool tries groups of consecutive pages and measures the resulting files. It stops each part before the 19.5 MB target rather than selecting chapter boundaries or equal page counts. Shared resources and the overhead of each new PDF mean that dividing the source size by 20 MB cannot predict the actual parts. Labels use one-based PDF page positions: pages 1–8 means the first eight pages in the file, even if the printed page numbers begin after a cover or introduction.

What happened when we split the sample PDF?

In our September 28, 2026 test, the built-in three-page sample was 25,923,681 bytes. The splitter produced two files: 17,282,669 bytes for pages 1–2 and 8,641,677 bytes for page 3. We checked page order, extracted text, and image data against the original; they matched, and the first-page renders were identical. Choose Try a sample PDF above to repeat the comparison locally. These are measured results for deliberately uncompressed synthetic artwork, not a forecast for your file. Count these two parts alongside your other listing attachments; Etsy’s five-file allowance still applies.

When will splitting not solve the problem?

A document with one oversized page has no page boundary to split at. A longer document may also require more than five parts or fail because a single copied page exceeds the target. In those cases, optimize the original images or export a differently packaged product. Compression is another option only if its quality and feature losses are acceptable. If the splitter returns one file, the rewrite already fit the target; there was no need to divide the pages. Keep the original export either way.

Does splitting lower page quality?

No. The splitter copies the original PDF pages into smaller documents instead of turning them into images.

Why did I receive only one PDF?

A lossless rewrite can sometimes remove enough redundant data to bring the whole document under 20 MB. In that case there is no reason to divide it.

What if one page is over 20 MB by itself?

Splitting cannot solve that. Use the Etsy PDF compressor, which can rebuild image-heavy pages at a practical reading resolution.
