What frustration does this upload fixer solve?
KDP print PDFs can fail when they are secured, too large, use inconsistent page sizes, or do not match supported print dimensions. This upload fixer checks those details on your device.

Check a paperback PDF against KDP’s requirements. selected. Uploader ready.
Upload fixers currently cover Discord, Etsy, email PDFs, and Amazon KDP. Make It Upload is independent and is not affiliated with any platform shown.
KDP is not just checking whether your PDF opens. It also needs the file to behave as a printed book, so page size, bleed, margins, and other production details can matter. This preflight checks for problems it can detect before you submit the PDF to KDP.

Paperback interiors need at least 24 pages; KDP rounds an odd manuscript count up to an even number, and permitted counts also depend on print options. PDF interior uses single pages, not spreads. All pages use the intended trim size and bleed setup. Fonts are embedded. Images are at least 300 DPI. 650 MB maximum. No password protection or encryption.

This upload fixer checks readability, encryption, file size, the 24-page paperback minimum after rounding up to an even count, consistent page dimensions, and the broad paperback custom trim range. It measures PDF page boxes rather than matching your selected trim or inspecting the artwork.
It reports the exact problems it can verify without flattening or rescaling your print artwork. Design changes stay in the source application.
This is a paperback interior check, not a hardcover, cover, or ebook validator. It does not test embedded fonts, image DPI, margins, actual bleed artwork, or every print-option-specific page count. You must check the selected KDP setup and Print Previewer; a local pass is not acceptance.
Fonts are not embedded, images are below 300 DPI, or transparent objects and layers were not flattened before export. Margins, gutter, bleed, crop marks, annotations, or other page content do not match the selected KDP print setup. The page count, ink, paper, trim size, or bleed choice entered in KDP does not match the manuscript.
If the PDF passes these local checks, upload the same file to KDP and inspect every page in Print Previewer. Return to the source application for any font, image, margin, bleed, or visual-quality corrections.
The checker measures page boxes and tests the broad paperback custom range: 4–8.5 inches wide and 6–11.69 inches high, with an allowance for bleed. It does not know which trim size you selected in KDP. A 6 × 9-inch PDF can pass that broad check while being wrong for a 5 × 8-inch book. Compare the measured dimensions with your actual print settings. It also cannot tell whether two facing pages were designed inside one page box; inspect the layout yourself.
For a paperback interior using bleed, KDP adds 0.125 inches to the trim width and 0.25 inches to the trim height. A 6 × 9-inch trim therefore uses a 6.125 × 9.25-inch page when bleed is required. Those numbers describe the page dimensions, not proof that background artwork reaches the bleed edge or that text has safe margins. Export using the intended setup in the layout application and check it in Print Previewer. Do not resize a finished PDF merely to make a dimension warning disappear.
We tested synthetic 6 × 9-inch interiors on September 28, 2026. The checker flagged the twelve-page file, while 23-page and 24-page files passed its structural checks: KDP rounds an odd manuscript count up to an even number before applying the 24-page minimum. A separate 24-page file with one differently sized page triggered a consistency warning, and an encrypted copy triggered a security warning. These local results do not certify print readiness. Reaching 24 pages does not validate every option: allowed counts vary with ink, paper, and trim choices. Hardcover uses separate listed sizes and page-count rules and is outside this checker’s scope. Use the Print Options reference for the specific product you are making. Adding blank pages automatically would change the book, so no pages are inserted or removed here.
Not before identifying the actual problem. The email and Etsy compressors on this site may rasterize pages at 150 DPI or lower, which is not a substitute for KDP’s 300 DPI image requirement. They are not a print-production repair path. For an oversized manuscript, optimize source images and export settings while preserving the quality needed at final print size. Fix fonts, margins, bleed, and security in the original application. Then repeat the structural check and review the book in KDP’s own preview workflow.
No. Automatically changing a print interior could damage typography, margins, bleed, or image quality. The upload fixer reports safe structural checks instead.
The browser can confirm readability, security, file size, page consistency, and dimensions. It cannot reliably confirm that every font is embedded or detect every image-resolution, margin, bleed, or print-quality problem.
This check allows dimensions within KDP’s custom trim range, including the corresponding bleed allowance. The trim size and bleed settings you choose in KDP must still match the file exactly.
