Why does Etsy reject listing videos?

A video can play happily on your phone or computer and still fail as an Etsy listing video. Etsy has its own requirements for length, size, format, and dimensions. This upload fixer checks those properties locally and explains the changes its repaired copy will make.

What frustration does this upload fixer solve?

Etsy listing videos must meet documented size, length, format, resolution, and aspect-ratio requirements. This upload fixer checks those details before you upload again.

What are the rules right now?

100 MB maximum. 5–15 seconds is the range shared by Etsy’s conflicting help pages (one says 3–15; another says 5–15). At least 500 px resolution; Etsy recommends at least 1080 px for best quality. Etsy describes aspect ratio as 2:1 or 1:2. MP4, MOV, FLV, AAC, AVI, 3GP, or MPEG. Up to two videos per listing; audio is removed after upload.

Requirements last verified September 28, 2026.

What does this upload fixer check—and sometimes change?

This upload fixer measures size, duration, extension, and dimensions. Etsy’s video guide says 3–15 seconds, while its listing guide says 5–15; this tool uses the overlapping 5–15 range. It interprets Etsy’s 500 px guidance as a minimum on both sides and its 2:1 or 1:2 wording as bounds; Etsy’s own help page remains the reference.

It makes an H.264 MP4 targeting 98 MB, keeps only the first 15 seconds of longer clips, removes audio, and resizes or pads the picture when needed. It verifies output size, but does not re-inspect all output metadata or judge visual quality.

What can’t this upload fixer promise?

This tool does not extend clips shorter than five seconds or choose a different playback speed. Prepare a new or deliberately edited source clip. A damaged file or limited browser memory can also stop local repair.

Why might the fixed file still get turned away?

The video is shorter than five seconds, and this tool does not extend or slow down clips. The source is corrupted or uses an encoding that the current browser cannot decode. The Etsy session, browser, or connection fails even though the repaired video meets the properties checked here.

What should you do with the new file?

Play the downloaded MP4 and check its beginning, ending, framing, and any black padding. Confirm that the product demonstration still makes sense without sound. Upload it in the listing’s Photos and video section and preview it there; a local size check is not a guarantee of Etsy acceptance.

Which fifteen seconds will the repair keep?

The repair keeps the start of the clip, not the best product moment. For example, an 80 MB, 24-second, 1920 × 1080 MP4 is within the size limit but too long. Processing keeps its first fifteen seconds and removes the audio. If the important demonstration happens near the end, choose that segment in a video editor before using this tool. This is an illustrative duration example, not a tested output-size claim. Always watch the exported ending before replacing a listing video.

What happens to an unusually wide or tall video?

The tool treats width-to-height ratios from 0.5 to 2 as its working bounds. Etsy’s help page phrases the requirement as 2:1 or 1:2, so this check is an implementation interpretation, not a promise about every intermediate shape. For a more extreme frame, repair adds black padding to fit the working bounds instead of automatically cutting away product details. Preview the framing yourself. If the product looks too small in the padded result, compose a new crop in the source editor.

Can a low-resolution clip become a sharp listing video?

Resizing can increase pixel dimensions, but it cannot recover texture, focus, or lettering that was never recorded. This tool checks both sides against 500 pixels and may upscale a small clip during repair. Etsy recommends at least 1080 pixels for best quality. If fabric detail or a small engraving matters to the purchase, a new recording may be more useful than a numerically larger export. View the product at listing size and check that the scene still communicates without audio.

When should you prepare a new source clip?

Etsy’s listing-video article says 3–15 seconds, but its general listing article says 5–15. This tool uses 5–15 seconds as a conservative working range, not a claim that Etsy always rejects a four-second clip. It does not extend shorter clips or change their playback speed. Prepare a new or deliberately edited source clip if Etsy rejects yours. If your browser cannot decode an otherwise accepted format, export a playable MP4 from the original app first. Inputs above 450 MB are outside this tool’s local repair limit, and smaller files can still exceed available memory. This workflow is for promotional listing videos only: do not use it to repair a purchased digital movie or tutorial, because trimming and removing sound would change the product.

Will the repaired listing video have sound?

No. The upload fixer removes audio because Etsy listing videos play without audio after upload.

What happens to a video longer than 15 seconds?

The upload fixer keeps the first 15 seconds. It cannot select the most useful segment for you. Trim the intended scene in your editor first if it occurs later in the recording.

How many videos can a listing have?

Etsy currently allows up to two listing videos. Each must meet the documented size, duration, resolution, format, and aspect-ratio rules.
